The Spartan Oracle newspaper staff went on a KPRC 2 news station tour in January to get an in-person view of what real-life news anchors do. The tour, led by KPRC Community Relations Producer Eric Greene, took us on an hour walk-through of the KPRC studios and also allowed for meet and greets with news anchors and workers at the station.

While on the tour, we were able to see all different aspects of the news station like the production room, different newsrooms, and where all the reporters, anchors, and employees work, including behind-the-scenes video recordings and tv setups. We also met many people there including news anchor Sofia Objeda, meteorologist Caroline Brown, and investigative reporter Mario Diaz.

By touring the KPRC studios, the staff was shown how the daily news is set up live, how meteorologists use their greenscreen, how reporters use teleprompters, and lots more.

The Spartan Oracle staff enjoyed being able to meet and greet the staff at KPRC and found it very useful and motivational as a student involved in journalism at the high school level.

“It was a fun experience to see how the news looks like in person. It was much different than I thought it was, but it was a very great experience,” Jackie Hernandez, Co-Editor of The Spartan Oracle.
