On Wednesday, February 3, National Signing day was held all around the world. The day is meant to honor high school student-athletes who have committed to play at the next level.
New Caney ISD held its annual ceremony at Randall Reed Stadium to congratulate the commits. Since COVID was an issue the ceremony was split into two events, one for New Caney High School and the other one for Porter High School.
Porter High School is sending seven of their athletes to play at the next level. Among those groups, Porter Baseball is sending five seniors to play college ball; Conner Westenburg to McNeese State University, Seth Sherlock to Alvin College, Domynic Cassell to Richland College, Chase McMillan to Kansas Wesleyan, Colby Christian to Temple College, and Jace Russell to LSU Eunice.
Caleb Evans-Pickens decided to commit to the University of Mary Hardin at Baylor to future his career in football. The senior was the only football player to commit as the others are deciding to wait it out.
Last but not least, Porter had their only girl commit. Josey Nunn is the only girl to be playing college volleyball. Nunn has decided to commit to Colorado State in Pueblo.
