We want to give a huge congratulations to our Spartan Track Team on their regional competition on May 23 and May 24. Everyone there did an outstanding job with accomplishments in all events and several broken school records. The boys and girls 4×400 broke the record by four seconds, Dezarai Stewart beat the shop put record by four feet, and Eva Abshire broke the 300-meter hurdles by two seconds.
Our players enjoyed competing and watching the whole team come together.
“It went really well,” varsity thrower Taylor Brown said. “I really enjoyed watching everyone compete and have a good time.”
The players not only loved being with teammates but coaches as well.
“My teammates and coaches were very encouraging and they made region so much fun,” varsity hurdle member Eva Abshire said.
All the players are so proud of the hard work each player put in.
“Track for Porter High School at regionals went amazing,” shop put player Dezarai Stewart said. “We had kids put in all their hard work and dedication to the final test!”
The Spartan Track Team has prepared a tremendous amount for the season.
“We started early this year because Covid cut last year short,” Coach McDougald said. “We stuck to our intense 400 programs and added more sprinters into the relays.”
Even with our track teams’ immense success, our coaches still have much planned out for next year.
“I am looking forward to breaking more school records and seeing the improvement of our athletes next year,” Coach Newton said.
