The assimilation of harmonizing voices paired with a spectacular performance from the Porter High School’s choir and theater, Mamma Mia was a show that will substantially be remembered by the viewers.

All the sacrifices and overwhelming practice nights led to consecutive successful performances. With the nerves that crept on from the first day until the last show that the PHS seniors gave, PHS’s choir and theater executed a beautiful presentation that will be marked as a whimsical memory for the older students.

“It was a very sentimental show since I have grown up doing musical theater. It was my last one as a kid, so this felt like the end of an era,” said Parker Warren.

This showcase portrays the effort, improvement, and memories that were made throughout the previous years, which allowed the students to demonstrate their talent in the utmost admirable manner. An excellent performance yields a lot of time and effort. Sacrificing their weekends, both students and directors contributed their efforts to construct a memorable experience. Each element that was integrated into the preparation of this show required a team effort and continuous improvement.

“Usually, the first performance has faults that you have to mend, but by the final performance, I am very comfortable. My character was a replica of me, so I really enjoyed playing Donna,” said Parker.

Mamma Mia’s cast seemed to enjoy all the aspects that were associated with the play. Everyone enjoyed playing their characters as they believed it portrayed a fragment of their persona.

“I think Rosie is me. She’s just a little older and more unhinged, so I really enjoyed playing her. Since it’s the last show, it’s the last time you’ll ever do it, so I went all out,” said Isabelle Duran.

From the first to the last performance, the directors, students, and audience witnessed the everlasting success that was demonstrated by each component that contributed to the play. The moment the lights flashed on stage up until the curtain closed, the cast of Mamma Mia gave their best performance, demonstrating the extent of their passion and commendable talent.
