School hands out new student IDs for 23-24 school year

Some students may not have noticed, but the district has changed the student IDs this year. Whether you noticed or even care, the people who have noticed either really like them or hate them.

Junior Andrew Romero isn’t a fan of the IDs because of how it makes his picture look.

“I hate the new IDs. They smash your face and make you look weird,” said Romero.

Andrew isn’t the only one who thinks this. Many people agree with him and they are upset. But just because some people don’t like them doesn’t mean that everyone does. Christopher Gonzalez said, “The new IDs don’t bother me. I didn’t notice anything wrong with them.”

There are many other people who don’t mind them too. Engineering teacher Mr. Craig Maddux said, “I like the ID’s this year because they are similar to the IDs of last year. “They communicate the most important information relevant to the student and teacher, they have a large Photo of the student to identify them and they have the student’s AP and Counselor which is very valuable information for the student and his/her teachers.  The new placement of the barcode at the bottom of the portrait ID layout has been easier to scan in the lunch line from what I have heard.”

Everyone has different opinions about whether the IDs are good or bad, but personally I don’t mind how the IDs look. I personally don’t see how the IDs smash your face. I also like how they are vertical. I like this feature because it makes it easier to scan your ID for lunch. The people in charge of the IDs this year also changed the color of the IDs to red which is a nice little detail they added.

Hello, My name is Julian. I am a junior and this is my first year being on the Spartan Oracle. I asked to be in the Oracle because I thought it would be fun, but I didn’t realize how fun it would be. I am learning new skills and am making so many new friends.
