Congratulations to Porter High School’s culinary teacher Mrs. Marie Cargill for being November Staff of the Month.

“This means a lot to me,” said Cargill. “I am very grateful for everyone who nominated me, I am most grateful for being here.”

Mrs. Cargill believes that the most exciting part of her job as a teacher is to help out students and watch them grow.

“Seeing my students grow, seeing something that they get or something that they didn’t do so well one time and then they tried it again and it works,” said Cargill. “Seeing how their faces when they achieve success and when they understand what it is that we are learning. Not just that we are cooking but understanding the process of it and learning something from it.”

Before teaching at Porter, Cargill worked in the culinary industry in Child nutrition. She later then decided that she wanted to teach.

“I like kids; I didn’t start off  teaching so it’s kind of a journey for me but one day I decided to take the plunge and follow my dreams,” said Cargill.

Cargill said she is grateful to have been given this honor and is grateful for being part of PHS.

“I’m lucky to be at this school we have a great group of teachers here and kids, the administrators are awesome and I am very fortunate that I get to be here and I jet to come to this school every day,” said Cargill.
