Finishing off the first round of district, the Spartan Women were 1-4 in play. As the second round was underway, the girls went straight to work. Currently, their record is 4-5 in district play and their last three games have all been successful wins.

Head Coach Angela Bell had to say this about starting the second round of district.

“This year has been crazy having to deal with COVID and having to make adjustments,” Coach Bell said.

Starting off the second round the girls played against Dayton. To start off the game Azahriah Ellis scored 2 points, helping the girls start off strong. The game was close, with only a 2 to 4 point difference throughout, but they maintained a lead throughout the entire game and finished off the game with a score of 34-32.

Against Cleveland, the Spartan Women had a lead throughout the entire game. During the fourth quarter, they shut down Cleveland and only allowed them to score one point. The girls were able to score 13 points that quarter and secured a big lead. A major contribution in this game came from Cieara Dinwiddie, scoring 18 points this game. Your Spartans ended on top 50-28.

With a thrilling game against the Montgomery Bears, it became a point for point game. In the fourth quarter, Cieara Dinwiddie was able to make a 3-pointer and get our girls the lead. They were able to secure the win. Azahriah Ellis led the team with 11 points followed by Emily Knollenberg with 8 points. The final score was 41-38, and the girls maintained their winning streak.

“I am so proud of the girls these past three games. They have played awesome,” Coach Bell said.
