The Orchestra, Choir, and Band departments started their Solo & Ensemble. Students from each class will participate in either singing or playing a song in front of a judge for scoring. The orchestra department had their Solo & Ensemble on January 27, at Kingwood High School, choir had theirs on February 1, 2024, at Porter High School, and band had theirs on February 3, 2024, at New Caney High School.
“My experience with Solo and Ensemble is that it can nerve racking to prepare yourself to play in front of a judge, as not everyone enjoys playing alone in front of others or directors. But once you overcome that hurdle, Solo and Ensemble can be a great way to show others and yourself how great of a player you are,” said Felipe Serrano, an orchestra student who made State Solo & Ensemble from the Orchestra.
“I think Solo & Ensemble is good for shy singers because it can be good to open them up and make them sing more confidently,” said Hannah Waltmon, a student involved in Choir.
“In solo endeavors, you sculpt your artistry with individual precision, sculpting a masterpiece that is uniquely yours. Yet, in ensemble playing, you become part of a symphony of collaboration,” stated Phoenix Steele, a choir and band student that made band state solo & ensemble.
