On February 23 the varsity combined choir, Spartan Chorale, traveled to San Antonio to compete at Madrigal Festival. Madrigal Festival is a competition in Texas that choirs from all over the state travel to in order to perform and compete in front of judges and other choirs.
This was the first year that Spartan Chorale had the privilege to compete at the event and members such as Mikayla Duterte were quite excited for how the competition would benefit the choir.
Duterte said “This experience will help us expand our music journey… and it is exhilarating to watch other spectacular choirs.”
The choir had some down time and they were able to go to various shopping centers and spend quality together as a group.
Senior Chorale member Jayla Aleman said “I am most excited to spend time with my friends and show off our hard work.”
After an outstanding performance, Chorale received a superior rating and a trophy. They celebrated by going to Buc-ees with the other competitors and got to know them.
Choir Director Gregory Goedecke said “I want Chorale to see that there is a whole other world out there… and I hope they will be inspired.
The choir is very excited for Madrigal Festival next year and to receive an even higher rating.
