The Spartan’s powerlifting team has been making waves in the weightlifting community, showcasing the Spartans strength and skill at recent competitions.
With a focus on the main lifts—squat, bench, and deadlift—the Spartans have surpassed expectations and ranked among the top contenders in their weight classes. Over the past three weeks, the Spartans have demonstrated their prowess at three competitions hosted by New Caney, Splendora, and Huffman High School. At each event, they have showcased their dedication and talent, striving for victory and aiming for regional and state-level competitions in Texas.
Among the standout performers for the Spartans are Michael Pouch, Yvette Pederaza, Valys Alanis, Eden Pena, Keleni Puente, Carlos Ruiz, and Roselyn Saldana. These athletes have consistently dominated their respective weight classes, clinching first place at the recent Splendora meet.
Reflecting on their success, Michael Pouch expressed, “Felt too good to be true.” This sentiment resonates with the team’s dedication and determination to push beyond their limits, setting new standards of excellence in powerlifting. As the season progresses, the Spartans remain focused on their goals of reaching Regionals and the state competition.
The next powerlifting event will be hosted at Splendora High School on February 14th at 4:00 p.m. For more information, please contact Coach at [email protected].
