Now that the holiday season is upon us, one of the big things for families to do is tune in to their favorite holiday shows and movies to bring back the nostalgia when they were young. Not a lot of people think of Thanksgiving has a big movie season, but there are Thanksgiving movies that have aired for decades and some new ones as well.
The first movie that will probably come to mind is one of the originals “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” which dates back all the way too 1973 airing every year during the week before Thanksgiving since. While it may not be airing on cable for everyone to see. You can still watch it on Apple TV+ where you can access the entire Peanuts collection movies that include “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” and “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
Although it may be one of the oldest and most memorable Thanksgiving pieces of media, it is only 30 minutes long, which may not classify it as movie. Although there is one show that can be classified as a movie called “Free Birds.”
“Free Birds” is a movie that was released in 2013 about two turkeys who go back in time before the first Thanksgiving to take turkeys off the menu. Although it’s not historically accurate as some critics like to point out, it is still a movie about two turkeys going back in time. At heart it is a family movie made to entertain and it does a great job whether it is historically accurate or not it cannot be denied that it is a memorable film for Thanksgiving day.
To watch “Free Birds”, you can watch it on different streaming apps including Hulu, Apple TV, and YouTube.
