On January 16 2025, Porter High School’s team of talented students competed in the District Spanish Spelling Bee. The team, built by Mr. Valle, worked hard to secure a win to the next round of this competition.
“I felt scared and nervous at first, but as the event went on I started calming down and feeling better,” said Gianfranco Cibelli Garcia.
PHS competed against other high schools in the district.

The following Porter students placed in the top 10 as finalist:
- 2nd – Xochilt Castillo
- 3rd – Cervando Chairez
- 4th – Kamila Santana
- 5th – Jose Dominguez
- 8th – Nelcy Rivas
- 10th – Gianfranco Cibelli
Six out of those ten spots were filled by our Spartans!
