Porter hosts UIL competition in preparation for District

Amy Ajibade

PHS hosted an Invitational UIL competition on February 11th. Around 30 schools showed up to participate and compete. This big event had many students nervous, as they were going against many others.

Overall all of the PHS students did a fantastic job in their competitions. It was a trivial event that all of the students took with strive. Applause to all the students who participated. Many of them gave their best and 9 students were able to place in multiple events.

PHS is expected to host the annual UIL district competition, which the coordinator, Mr. Levy, is greatly excited about.

Mr. Levy, the UIL coordinator, expressed his excitement about hosting the district competition.

¨We´ve seen a lot of improvement in a lot of different events, especially journalism, this year. So I´m really excited to see where you guys (students) take us and see if we can win a district championship,¨ Levy said.

Anyone interested in volunteering at the district competition can contact Mr. Levy for more information.
