As we all know our school Porter High School has introduced to its students and educators a new process this school year 2023-2024 which is the E-Pass. The E-Pass is a digital hall pass that you can have access to through your computer from the school page. It is a requirement for all students to access the app and request to go to any place around school through there once their designated the teacher at the time accepts their request and allows them to go.
As students and teachers seem to learn and get more comfortable with the E-Pass we can hear their opinions and thoughts about it. Even though our school chose to introduce us to the digital E-Pass for positive and safety reasons, students and teachers can’t help but have their own personal opinions about it.
“I don’t really like it, it’s simple but it’s not my favorite. I don’t think it’s fair for people with specific problems/issues or periods it’s hard to only be able to go to the restroom twice in eight hours,” Riley McFarland said.
Ms. Cheryl Kennedy, sociology and psychology teacher seems to disagree with the majority of the students about the E-Pass.
“I like it because I think that it gives the students more countability and freedom.”
She also talks about the benefits that the E-pass has for the students.
“E-Pass is way better, with the old pass the students would leave the room for even 30 minutes, now if they’re gone for a long time administrators are looking for them.”
