On October 2nd, FFA took their members to the New Caney ISD Ag Barn to do their annual Ag Olympics. They competed against West Fork and New Caney High school FFA members for the Golden Feed Bucket and to provide support for a local charity.
Members participated in hay bale hurdles, piggy-back barrel racing, apple bobbing, and egg tossing. One of the events included a canned food drive where the chapter with the most canned food items wins a point for that event. ¨It allows the chapters to come together as a community and just have fun” says Porter FFA member, Hannah Petty.
They competed in these events in hopes of bringing the notorious award home. They were victorious in their efforts, sending the other schools home empty handed. The bucket will remain here until they compete again next year as a signal of their victory against West Fork and New Caney High school.
“I enjoyed participating and the egg toss was my personal favorite.” said senior Hannah Petty.
You can participate in the Ag Olympics by being an FFA member. To join you have to pay a small that covers for you to be a member in chapter, district, area, and state; it also includes a free shirt.
