As football season comes up, our school spirit rises!! Mrs. Dawn Hamilton is the teacher for Cosmetology. She worked in a salon for multiple years before she got her certification as a teacher. When Mrs. Hamilton arrived at Porter High School, the tradition of having cosmetology paint faces for home football games was already set. Mrs. Hamilton went on to teach her students the different styles and methods to face paint. Soon enough they got down to business!
During lunch, cosmetology students gave free Spartan face paintings to students to spread the school spirit. Rounding up from students, teachers and assistant principals, all joined in the fun. Throughout the day, you will see the variety of students showing their support and school spirit by wearing this face paint.
Some folks will even get creative with the designs they get on their face. Designs like Spiderman, feathers down the face, and any school appropriate ideas the students might have. Not only are girls in the cosmetology program but we also have gentlemen participating in all of these fun activities.
¨This is a fun experience for my students to get a feel of what doing a service for a client would be, but also showing our pride and support for our athletes,” said Mrs. Hamilton.
As a junior I find it fun painting faces since everyone gets creative, especially teaching our newest sophomores how to follow along our footsteps,” said Jazlyn Ojeda.
For each home football game, students can get their faces painted for free to sport their school spirit.
