The Dungeons & Dragons club is a club where students and fans of the game or those who are interested in knowing what it is about can play and learn about the fantasy game after school and hang out with their friends. The meetings are on Tuesdays at 3:00 p.m. where students can come together and play with friends and fellow students and enjoy a great time playing and being immersed into a world of fantasy.
“There are a lot of people that like this game but they have a hard time finding people to play with regularly,” said temporary sponsor Collins Adams.”It gives a chance for people to come together and play something they love, it’s a chance to make new friends.”
Dungeons & Dragons is a game where players from a group set off to explore fantasy worlds together while also embarking on quests. The game focuses on storytelling and everything is up to the players’ decision to see how things will go only dice will help along the way allowing the game to be even more exciting.
Although the club might be a place for some to hang out and enjoy some fun time after school playing a board game. Some members such as junior Olivia Nichols believe that the club is much like a safe space.
“I get to release all my negative emotions and not have to worry about work, assignments, homework, or anything, we just play the game. It’s like a stress reliever,” said Nichols.”The best part of being in this club is just being able to laugh with friends, like if you do something dumb in the game it’s just funny.”
Mr. Adams, who is an English teacher as well, D&D is not only a board game in which students can just enjoy themselves, but also a way students can expand their creativity, work on their writing, as well as develop or work on other skills.
“As an English teacher, the game is all about writing which gives people the chance to enhance their creativity,” said Addams. “It gives the players the chance to act, improvise, and work on their writing skills.”
For more information on how to join the D&D club, all students are welcome to show up to the LMC on Tuesdays at 3 or see Mr. Adams in room B107.
