On October 31, members of the Spanish Honor Society hosted a beautiful celebration for Dia de los Muertos in the rotunda during all lunches. The club members were doing face painting, while the Mariachi Club was playing traditional tunes from México. Students were also enjoying popular Mexican candy while getting their face painted or while listening to the Mariachi play. Here are some responses from our Spartans about the Dia de los Muertos celebration.
When asking sophomore, Evelyn Soto, what she thought about the Spanish Honor Society’s Dia de los Muertos Celebration, she responded, “I thought it was nice since it got to show others a tradition that they didn’t know about or how to celebrate it.”
“I think the event was a true success because we saw so many smiling faces throughout the day. Students enjoyed getting their face painted as well as receiving candy from the Spanish Honor Society members. The rotunda had a beautiful ofrenda which really set the tone for the Day of the Dead celebration,” said senior Kiara Rivera Rivera.
“I found the Day of the Dead celebration to be very beautiful due to all of the decorations that were set up. Students and staff enjoyed the music so much!” said Mrs. Ogata.
