Starting off the senior year for the class of 2024, the class officers held the annual Senior Sunrise on the first day of school, August 7th. The event was held in the student parking lot, with signs, food, a great picture opportunity, and just an absolutely great time for our seniors to celebrate their last first day of school.
“To make the Senior Sunrise happen there was a lot of communication that needed to be made so that all the officers knew exactly what was going on beforehand and during the day,” said Senior Class President Mirna Ramirez. “I like talking to a lot of people, so I make sure to get their opinions in the decisions so that they can have an idea of what’s going on and they can feel as a part of the decision. People feel better when they get what they want, a better environment.”
To have even more fun, and go along with the tradition of decorating your car for Senior Sunrise. The class officers held a car decorating contest, where the best-decorated car would win FREE parking, receiving their money back that was paid for the original parking spot. The winners of this contest were the twins, Remi & Reese Trujillo with their black Jeep. This brought some great creativity and vibes to the parking lot, as the spots began to fill with colorful and crazy-looking cars to start of the school year.
As we head into the last quarter of high school for the class of 2024, we are happy to see them indulge in these amazing traditions held for them to enjoy this last year of high school, and so excited to see what events will be held for the rest of the year, as we end this last year of grade school with a bam.
“Senior Sunrise was definitely a bit hectic to prepare for. I had to make the large banner and photo-taking frames, and it took a while but I feel it was definitely worth it because it came out really good and made a good place to take cute photos,” said senior class Vice-President Claudia Galarza. “Since this year is our last year, we are doing everything possible to make it a fun year! All the planning does take some time but we are hoping to leave everyone with fun memories before we all go our separate ways and into the grand big world there is outside Porter High School.”
