Over the past week, seven powerlifters off the powerlifting team competed at the state competition. The following lifters competed at state:

Ashley Gallo

Angela Ruiz

Sophie Sorger

Jennifer Galarza

Taylor Brown

Bella Garley

Out of these seven, Bella Garley placed first in her weight class. Garley ended up lifting 975 pounds.

“I was beyond excited to even place at state, let alone get first in her weight class,” said Garley.

Coach Daniel Evans Pickens says he is proud of how far his lifters have come since they started in November.

“I am honored to have had such a great season and is excited to see what next year will bring for the team,” said Coach Pickens.
