In the past few years, Square Enix has had some failures pertaining to their Avengers game, appropriately titled Marvel’s Avengers. Players had many complaints about it’s online multiplayer, gameplay repetition, and it’s major bugs.

Fortunately, with their new title, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, gamers no longer have to worry about any such problems. No more loot collection, online multiplayer brawler, or glitchy open worlds. The game brings a linear story progression along with simplistic gameplay mechanics that are simple enough for anyone to learn while still having a fun time while playing through its immersive campaign.

The game follows the Marvel Comic team known as the Guardians of the Galaxy. The player plays as the team’s leader, Star Lord, through the entirety of the game as you travel throughout the galaxy trying to control the biggest team of misfits the galaxy has to offer.

Throughout the course of the games linear campaign, meaning no open world, the player is forced to make decisions that affect the relationships of the characters and later choices in the game. While most choices are rather minor, there are a few choices that make a considerable difference in the story progression of the game.

Overall, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy offers a fun experience for all. It proves that linear progression games still have a place in the modern time of major open world titles, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and the Assassin’s Creed titles, and it shows that Square Enix is capable of making a great superhero title. It is a game deserving of 9 of 10 stars.
