After a very successful pre-season, the girl’s soccer team have officially commenced their first round of district.

The team traveled to play at the Bronco Stadium against the Lady Broncos, in which they dominated the Lady Broncos with a score of 8-0. The following week the girls played Cleveland here at home where they took yet another win with a score of 10-2.

“As we are finalizing the first round of district we are starting to play more competitive teams that really put us to the test and obviously we want to win. As a team, I think we’d agree that morale and attitude play a big part in this program and we are lucky to have a family-like dynamic. Because we’ve added a lot of new players to the team so we are trying to build up our chemistry. The end goal as always is to get as far as we can in the playoffs,” said Jasmine Marquez, Senior Team Captain.

The next two games were against Caney Creek and the New Caney Eagles. Winning both games with great scores, Porter Spartans beat Caney Creek 8-1. Of course, the yearly battleline game against the Lady Eagles was won by our Spartans with a score of 10-0. Their most recent game was a head-to-head battle against the Lake Creek Lions. Our Spartans fell short with a score of 2-0 but fought hard nevertheless.

While at home the Lady Spartans were at home against the Montgomery Bears and fought hard to win with a score of 2-1. To finish out round 1 of district their final game was against the Kingwood Panthers where they, unfortunately, took a loss, leaving them at second in district.
