The Golden Grace’s dance team have put in a tremendous effort this year with competitions and performance’s for the school and now they are taking their talent further to compete at Disney World, Orlando, Florida on April 7th-13th, 2022.

Alexis Large, junior said, “We aren’t really sure what all we will be doing in Disney yet, but I do know we will be taking dance classes and learning advanced routines from professional Disney choreographers.”

The purpose of the annual dance trip is to travel and perform in front of hundreds of people professionally on the Disney stage and for the Golden Graces to have a once in a lifetime experience along with their instructor Ms. Julia Kelly and their team members.

“The person who impacted me most on the team was Ash-Leigh Allgood, our colonel. Ash-Leigh was the first girl to reach out to me on the team and has been my best friend all three years,” said Large. “Not only did she show me how to grow as a dancer, but she showed me what real friendship looks like.”

Large said that with tryouts coming up, interested dancers should know that the team is a lot of fun, but is also a lot of work. Everyone puts a lot of time and dedication to get where they are today.

“To other girls wanting to try out for the Graces: First, know that it won’t always be fun, there will be days that you don’t feel your passion for dance and the energy will be really low, but you just have to push through and find the good in every practice. 2) Don’t be selfish or entitled, ALWAYS be willing to improve. Even our best dancer always has something she can improve on; you just have to be willing to put in the effort to be better, not only for yourself but for your team, “said Large. “Lastly, BE COACHABLE, anything the officers and directors say is meant to make you better! Don’t take it personally, the fact that they are taking the time to critique you individually shows that they believe you are capable of doing it. These things might seem small, but they are so crucial to the principles that our team is built on.”

Golden Grace’s team tryouts are April 18-22nd. All students interested should contact the dance director, Ms. Julia Kelly in the dance room or email her at [email protected].
