On Friday, March 25, and Saturday, March 26 the Academic UIL teams went to Caney Creek High School to compete in District. With 4 Individual Placements and 1 Team Placement, we have a great team heading to compete at Region on April 22 and 23.

Our current events team, with Brandon Kusaj, will be advancing to Region. With great scores in the district, we have no doubt that they have an amazing chance to advance even farther into State.

“At District, we did in the line with what I expected especially compared to previous years,” said UIL Sponsor, Mr. Levy. “This year we really focused on growth and getting people to join our team. This year we only had 3 seniors go to district with us showing how young our teams are, but now that we have a nice size for our teams. We can start focusing on our placements and advancing. I especially would like to work on more specific teams that I can see are struggling a little bit, as well as working with core students who I know have the potential to make it to state. I am just really excited and hopeful for next year.”

With Region only a month away, preparation has begun so these students are prepared for the challenges ahead. With other schools having well-prepared and well-established UIL teams, they have some decent competition in front of them. But I and confident our Spartans are up for the task.

“I studied a lot to get here again. I knew this year was going to be difficult like it was last year to place at District,” said Brandon Kusaj. “It is really hard to balance studying for District, and working on all of my hard classes. I am just really happy to see my hard work take me this far, and hopefully take me farther.”

Congratulations to all of our students who competed at District, especially to those that placed. Good Luck next month at Region!
